I am Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow at the Georgia Institute of Technology. In my research and teaching I focus on the intersections of literature and visual arts. Museum studies and reception theory is another research area of mine. For example, my essay “London's Museum Spaces in the Works of A.S. Byatt and Peter Ackroyd” will be included in a collection entitled _Beyond the City: The Return of the ‘Real London’ in Contemporary British Fiction_ forthcoming from Continuum in 2012.

In my teaching and in my research, I am also interested in issues of display and space. For example, I presented a paper entitled "Uncanny Portraits: Photographic Adaptations at Cologne’s Wallraf-Richartz-Museum” on an exhibition called "Do or Die" at the "Rendering the Visible Conference" at Georgia State this spring. Using a prezi for my presentation, I analyzed the way this particular exhibition paired portraits from the museum's permanent collection with contemporary photography to create uncanny effects.

My fall freshman composition class focuses on "Museums & Technologies of Display." While we are starting out with a unit on early technologies of display such as the camera obscura, we will move on to physical and virtual modes of display including websites, prezi, and Omeka. My students will also be involved in the planning and set-up of the exhibition of student work at the Ferst Center Galleries at Tech in December and January.
